Executive Summary
ProductRex is a free comparison tool for Australian advisers covering superannuation, pension and investment products.
You drive the integration through Ask Marloo. Get the client's details into a new scenario, ask about anything in it, then ask Marloo to write the comparison into your documents such as your SOAs, or your client file in one conversation.
See here for a full walkthrough.
Connecting ProductRex
Go to Settings > Integrations.
Click Connect on the ProductRex card under MCP Servers.
Sign in with your ProductRex account and allow access.
Once connected, the card shows Connected and ProductRex is available to you through Ask Marloo.
Note: you need your own ProductRex account to use the integration. ProductRex accounts are free to create. If you see "ProductRex could not be connected. Return to integrations and try connecting again.", click Connect and sign in again.
What the ProductRex integration does
The integration connects Marloo to your own ProductRex account so you can build and read scenarios from inside Marloo. Rather than keying holdings into ProductRex and copying the results back, you can ask Marloo to:
create a scenario with the client's current, recommended and alternative platforms and investments
match the client's risk profile to one of the risk profiles in your ProductRex account
read any scenario in your ProductRex account, including ones you built in ProductRex yourself
answer questions about a scenario's fees, asset allocation and platform features
write the full comparison into your client files, such as your SOAs, ROAs or file notes.
Getting client details into ProductRex
You can do this from any Ask Marloo chat: a document, a client, a meeting, tasks or the global chat.
Tell Marloo what to build: the client, which accounts to include, the risk profile to compare against, and any alternative product you want in the comparison. When you ask from a document, Marloo takes the recommended products from that document unless you name your own in the prompt.
Example of a well-structured prompt:
Push all of John and Jane Smith's superannuation data across into ProductRex? Assume they are an aggressive risk profile, and for the alternative fund please use Australian Retirement Trust High Growth Index.
Create a ProductRex scenario for John and Jane based on their current information and recommend the model portfolio for a high growth risk profile available in my company context.
Save this as a note under the client.
Example of an incomplete prompt:
Put the Smiths into ProductRex.
Marloo looks up the platforms and investment options in ProductRex, matches the risk profile to one in your ProductRex account, and asks you before it creates anything if a detail is missing or unclear.
Note: ProductRex does not let Marloo edit a scenario once it is created. To change an amount or a product, ask Marloo to build a new scenario, or edit it in ProductRex. A custom investment (one with no APIR or ASX code) carries no fee or asset allocation data, so Marloo checks with you before using one.
Retrieving ProductRex scenarios into Marloo
Once a scenario exists in ProductRex, everything in it is available to Ask Marloo.
Ask about any of the data in the scenario, for example:
What is the asset allocation to international equities?
How does the recommended fee compare to their current fees?
Which of the alternative platforms offers the features the client asked about?
You can also ask for the full report which covers:
a summary of the current and proposed positions and the strategy
the balance and portfolio weight of each account, adding back to 100%
the fee and cost comparison, including effective rates, for each account and for the household
the asset allocation against the selected risk profile
the platform feature comparison
Marloo returns the report in the chat and you can write this into any section of your document or your file notes. Ask for the appendix instead if you would rather keep the tables out of the body.
Marloo can also read a scenario you built in ProductRex yourself, including edits you made there, and give you a download link for a Word report you have already generated in ProductRex. Marloo cannot generate the ProductRex Word document itself; that still happens in ProductRex.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
ProductRex won't connect | Sign in with your own ProductRex account and allow access. If the card still shows Not connected, click Connect and try again. |
Marloo asked questions instead of building the scenario | Answer them in the chat. Marloo will not create a partial scenario or guess a balance, product code or risk profile. |
A fee or allocation shows as Not available | ProductRex did not return a figure for that product. Custom investments have no fee or allocation data. Check the product in ProductRex before relying on the comparison. |
The scenario has a duplicate holding | ProductRex adds records rather than updating them, so re-posting a holding creates a second one. Edit the scenario in ProductRex or ask Marloo to build a fresh one. |
I want the ProductRex Word report | Marloo cannot produce the ProductRex Word document. Generate it in ProductRex, then ask Marloo for the download link. Everything the report contains is already available to ask about in the chat. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a ProductRex account to use this?
Yes. The integration connects Marloo to your own ProductRex account; it doesn't replace ProductRex. ProductRex accounts are free to create.
Where can I use it?
In any Ask Marloo chat: a document, a client, a meeting, tasks or the global chat. The document chat is the easiest place to build the scenario and bring the comparison back into the same SOA or ROA.
Can I use a scenario I built in ProductRex myself?
Yes. Ask Marloo for the scenario by name and it reads the fees, asset allocation and features from ProductRex, whether or not Marloo created it.
Does the data flow both ways?
Yes. Marloo gets the client's details into a new ProductRex scenario, then retrieves anything in that scenario back into Marloo.
