The direct Morningstar integration brings the Morningstar universe into every chat in Marloo. You can research funds, analyse portfolios and pull Morningstar's latest research, all in the context of your specific client, without leaving the product.
See here for a full walkthrough.
Who can use it
The Morningstar integration is available to Pro firms in the UK. It is not included on Plus. There's no setup or configuration required - if your firm is on a UK Pro subscription, it's already switched on. If you're outside the UK and would like access, get in touch with the team through the chat in the bottom right.
What's included
The integration gives you access to:
Morningstar's fund universe and 1,600+ MPS solutions, with coverage growing over time
Fund performance (1, 3, 5 and 10-year annualised returns), charges (OCFs and transaction costs), top 10 holdings, asset allocation and benchmark comparisons
Portfolio analysis using Morningstar's X-Ray methodology, covering asset allocation, sector exposure, geography, investment style and risk/return
Investment screening against your chosen criteria
Morningstar's analyst research, market outlooks and commentary
Where it works
You can use the Morningstar integration in any chat interface in Marloo, including:
Ask Marloo
Meeting chat
The Clients tab
The document editor
How to use it
Just ask. Open any chat and ask a question about a fund, portfolio or market view. Marloo will detect that Morningstar data is needed, search the Morningstar database and pull the answer through, usually in a matter of seconds. You'll see an indicator in the chat when the Morningstar search is running.
Some examples to get you started:
"Summarise Morningstar's latest UK market outlook"
"What are Morningstar's current asset allocation views across regions?"
"Tell me about the Fundsmith Equity Fund. Give me the 1, 3, 5 and 10-year annualised performance"
Researching funds in your client's context
This is where the integration is most powerful. When you ask a question from within a client's profile, Marloo combines the Morningstar research with that client's actual context: their risk profile, asset allocation and current holdings.
For example, from a client's profile you could ask:
"Tell me about the Fundsmith Equity Fund in the context of this client's risk profile and asset allocation. Give me the 1, 3, 5 and 10-year annualised performance."
The answer you get back is grounded in that client's actual portfolio, not a generic fund summary.
Shortlisting from your own fund list
If your firm works from a recommended fund list, you can combine it with the Morningstar integration:
Go to the Company tab and upload your fund list as a source in your knowledge base.
Open a client's profile and ask Marloo to suggest a suitable fund from your list for that client.
Marloo will pull from three sources at once: your fund list in the knowledge base, the client's profile, and Morningstar's data. You'll get a suggested fund, the rationale behind it, and any performance figures you've asked for, typically in under a minute.
Getting research into your advice documents
You can run Morningstar research directly from the chat inside the document editor, then insert it into the document itself.
For example:
In the document chat, ask: "Tell me about the Fundsmith Equity I Acc GBP fund. Give me the 1, 3, 5 and 10-year annualised performance in a table format."
Once the results come through, ask Marloo to insert them: "Insert the table in section 9, with the date and source below the table."
Marloo will place the table in the section you've specified, along with the access date and the source (Morningstar), giving you a clear source of truth in the document.
Saving research to the client record
Once you've run some research in a client's chat, you can ask Marloo to save it:
"Create a file note of this research."
The research is saved as a note on the client record. When you next generate a document for that client, you can select the note as context in the document generation workflow, so your fund research flows straight into the report.
Tips
Ask naturally, as you would a colleague. There's no special syntax to learn.
If a question doesn't trigger the Morningstar search, start your prompt with "access Morningstar" to make sure it kicks in.
Be specific about the share class where it matters (for example "Fundsmith Equity I Acc GBP") to make sure you get data for the right unit.
Questions or feedback?
This integration will keep developing over time, and your feedback shapes what we build next. If something isn't working as expected, or there's data you'd like to see included, get in touch with the team through the chat in the bottom right.
