How to bulk upload your client list to Marloo

Import your existing client list into Marloo with an XLSX upload. File format, who can upload, and where to start.

Written by Navyaa Sharma

If you're moving an existing client book into Marloo, you can import the lot in one go with an XLSX upload rather than adding clients one at a time.

File format

Upload an .xlsx or csv file with your client information. Marloo will import any of the following fields and will try import other ones where possible.

Note: the only mandatory field is email (add placeholder email if client doesn't have one).

  1. Client name

  2. Email address

  3. Address

  4. Phone number

  5. Date of birth

Column headers don't need to match those labels exactly (but should be labeled clearly). The order matters less than the content of each column.

Here's an example of what Marloo can import.

Who uploads it

The bulk upload is done by each individual adviser in their own Marloo account. It is not a central admin action. An admin or support staffer cannot upload one master list and have those clients flow through to every adviser. Each adviser's client list lives under their own account, so each adviser uploads their own file.

Note: If multiple users upload a list with the same clients, duplicates won't be created but it can fill data that is in one but not the other

Steps

  1. Open the Marloo web app and go to Clients.

  2. Click Upload client list.

  3. Select your .xlsx file.

  4. Map the columns if prompted, then confirm the import.

How long does the upload take?

For most uploads, your clients will appear in Marloo within a few minutes.

Uploading from Xplan or AdviserLogic? These exports are processed manually by the Marloo team. After you upload, the file is added to a queue and a team member will complete the import for you - this is not automatic and may take some time depending on team availability. File size does not affect processing time. You will be notified once your clients are live in Marloo.

Redtail and Wealthbox exports are processed automatically.

If the upload fails

If the file is rejected, the columns aren't being detected, or you have a non-standard format, contact Marloo support and we'll help.
