Templates — FAQ

Quick answers to the most common questions about creating, editing, and managing templates in Marloo.

Written by Navyaa Sharma

Marloo has three template types — Meeting, Document, and Task — each serving a distinct purpose. Templates are managed from the Templates section in the left sidebar.

What are the three template types?

Meeting templates control the structure of your meeting summaries. Document templates control how Marloo generates advice documents. Task templates define pre-built task workflows you can apply to clients. All three are managed from Templates in the left sidebar.

How do I create a meeting template?

Go to Templates > Meetings and click + Add meeting template. You can start from an existing template in the library, upload a .docx or PDF file, or build from scratch using the AI chat panel. Starting from an existing template is the fastest option — it's quicker to customise than to build from zero.

What's the difference between white text and blue text in the template editor?

White (non-highlighted) text is static — it appears verbatim in every output. Blue blockquote text is an instruction to Marloo — it tells Marloo what to generate for that section and doesn't appear in the output itself. Use the Instruct Marloo button in the toolbar to toggle selected text between the two.

Can I share templates with my team?

Yes. Open the template and click Share with team. Shared templates appear in the Team tab and are visible to all team members. Once shared, templates are locked by default — team members can use them but not edit them. Turn on Allow Team Edits under Options to permit editing.

How do I delete a template?

Click the three-dot menu, and select Delete. Deletion is permanent.

My template is stuck in 'analysing'. What do I do?

Wait up to 15 minutes and refresh the page — complex documents take time to process. If it's still stuck after that, contact support to have the entry cleared, then re-upload.

Why is my static text being rewritten by Marloo?

The text is inside a blue AI instruction zone, so Marloo is treating it as a prompt. Highlight the text and click Instruct Marloo to switch it to white (static). White text appears verbatim in every output and will never be changed.

Can I use the same template for different clients?

Yes — that's the point. A well-refined template works across all clients. Use the generation prompt for client-specific differences (what to recommend, where to find key info). If you find yourself wanting a separate template for different scenarios, add conditional rules to your template instead.

How do I save a copy before editing a shared template?

Open the template, click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top right of the editor, and select Save a Copy. The copy saves to your personal templates. Always use Save a Copy before experimenting — changes to a shared template affect everyone using it.
