Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) - Setup & Troubleshooting

Everything you need to know about setting up MFA, re-authenticating if prompted, and resetting your MFA if you're locked out.

Written by Navyaa Sharma

Executive Summary

  • MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring your password and a one-time code from an authenticator app each time you log in.

  • If you have been asked to log in again or are seeing an MFA prompt, follow the steps below to re-authenticate.

  • To set up MFA, go to Settings > Personal Settings > Security and toggle MFA on.

  • Codes are generated by your authenticator app - they are not sent by SMS or email.

  • If you need your MFA reset, email [email protected] from the email address associated with your account.

What Is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

MFA is a security feature that requires you to verify your identity in two ways when logging in: your password, and a one-time code generated by an authenticator app on your phone. Even if someone were to obtain your password, they would still be unable to access your account without that code.

Setting Up MFA

  1. Navigate to Settings > Personal Settings > Security.

  2. Toggle MFA on.

  3. A QR code will appear on screen. Open your authenticator app and scan it — or, if you can't scan, enter the setup code shown on screen manually.

  4. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in your authenticator app to confirm setup.

Important: Each user must scan the QR code on their own device. Do not share QR codes with other team members, as this compromises account security.

Been Asked to Log In Again?

If you've been prompted to re-authenticate or are seeing an MFA screen you haven't seen before, this is part of our ongoing security improvements. We've recently rolled out stronger security controls that shorten both the inactivity period and the maximum session length, which is why you're seeing it now. There's nothing to worry about — simply follow the steps below to get back in.

Option A — Scan the QR Code (Recommended)

  1. Open your authenticator app and tap + (Add account).

  2. Select "Other account" or "Work or school account".

  3. Choose "Scan a QR code" and point your camera at the code on screen.

  4. Your account will be added automatically.

Option B — Enter the Code Manually

  1. Open your authenticator app and tap + (Add account).

  2. Select "Enter code manually" or "Can't scan the QR code?".

  3. Type in the setup key shown on the login screen and tap Finish.

Once set up, your authenticator app will display a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Enter this code when prompted and you'll be logged back in.

How MFA Codes Work

Codes are generated directly by your authenticator app — they are not sent via SMS or email. Each code is valid for 30 seconds, so make sure to enter it promptly when logging in. If a code expires before you enter it, simply wait for the next one to appear.

Locked Out or Need Your MFA Reset?

If you've lost access to your authenticator app or device and can no longer log in, our support team can reset your MFA for you.

📧 Email [email protected] from the email address associated with the account you want reset.

Our team will verify your identity, reset your MFA, and send you a secure login link so you can get back in straight away.

Please note: for security purposes, reset requests must come from your registered account email address. We are unable to process requests sent from unrecognised email addresses.

FAQs

My authenticator code isn't being accepted. What's wrong?

Codes expire every 30 seconds and are time-sensitive. Make sure your phone's clock is set to update automatically (network time), as even a small time difference can cause codes to fail.

My correct password isn't working. What should I do?

If your firm uses single sign-on (SSO), click Sign-in options on the login page and select your SSO provider. If you don't use SSO, try clearing your browser cache and attempting again. Contact support if the issue persists.

The wrong team loads when I log in. How do I fix this?

Your email address may be associated with a different workspace. Contact support and they'll help you access the correct team.
